Reliability is the feature

Inside a machine shop, an engineering bench, or an ops control room, the question is never "is this clever?" It is "can I depend on this at 3pm on a Tuesday when something has gone wrong?" The most-loved features in our portfolio are not the flashiest — they are the ones that behave the same way every single time, with no surprises.

That has a real design implication. We optimise for boring excellence long before we optimise for capability. A narrower tool that always works beats a broader tool that mostly works.

Domain knowledge compounds

A generic AI assistant has to start from zero with every conversation. A domain-tuned one starts from the accumulated context of the work — the part numbers, the failure modes, the standard procedures, the institutional shortcuts. That shifts the experience from "explain everything to the model" to "ask a colleague who already knows."

The best AI products are the ones where the user spends less time prompting and more time deciding.

Ship the smallest useful thing
